Our internships are open to law students (preference will be given to students in second year onwards) who would like to gain exposure to the Singapore legal system. The stint will provide an insight into what goes on in the daily life of a practising lawyer in Singapore. In addition, internships are also an opportunity for us to assess a candidate for the purposes of offering a training contract or relevant legal training contract in future.

Interns can expect to attend court proceedings, meetings and assist in tasks such as research and the preparation of legal documents.

As far as possible, applicants will be assigned to the Practice Group of their choice. 

All internships are 4 weeks in duration and the firm will allocate the internships over the following periods :

  • 8 May to 2 June 2017
  • 3 July to 28 July 2017
  • 7 August to 31 August 2017

Applicants are strongly encouraged to complete the full 4-week internship so as to gain a fuller and more rounded experience at R&T. In submitting your application and selecting your preferred period(s) for an internship, you undertake to commit to and participate in the full duration if an internship seat is offered and accepted. In the event of any request to shorten the internship duration after acceptance, R&T reserves the right to withdraw the internship offer.

Each application must be accompanied with the following information and documents:

  • A cover letter of no more than 1 page, which sets out (i) preferred areas of practice and (ii) reasons why the candidate believes himself or herself to be a unique proposition to Rajah & Tann Asia.
  • A CV of no more than 3 pages, which sets out (i) contact details, (ii) academic record and achievements, (iii) extra-curricular activities and achievements, and (iv) prior work experience.
  • A copy of law school transcripts where available; and if not, the grades and subjects taken should be typed out and submitted.
  • A recent photograph.


No other documents or papers are required.

Internship Application
 

Applications for internship in a particular year must be made between 1 January and 31 January in that year. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their applications by the first week of March.
